The Thranhardt Lecture Series Award was established in 1995 with a gift from J.E. Hanger in memory of Howard R. Thranhardt, CP. The award has become one of the most distinguished honors in the orthotics and prosthetics profession, annually recognizing individuals committed to advancing O&P clinical education and research.
Each year, the Academy Annual Meeting Clinical Content Committee selects two abstracts to be presented as part of the Thranhardt Lecture Series, and each winner receives a $500 honorarium. Thranhardt Lecture Series abstracts are also sent to the Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics (JPO) Editorial Review Board for potential inclusion in a future issue of JPO and become courses on the Academy’s Paul E. Leimkuehler Online Learning Center.
“The Thranhardt Lecture winners are the best of show among all abstracts selected for inclusion at each year’s Academy Annual Meeting ,” said Mark Holowka, MSPO, CPO, FAAOP(D), president of the Academy. “On behalf of the Academy, I congratulate the winners and look forward to learning from their research during the 2024 Academy Annual Meeting in Chicago, March 6-9.”
