As the new Executive Director of the Academy, I am honored and humbled to be part of such a wonderful community of O&P professionals.
Though new to our industry, I have been in non-profit leadership for 20+ years, most recently with the Biomedical Engineering Society.
In the many interactions I have had so far (and, of course, I plan to have many more) with members, volunteers, our manufacturer partners, and those affiliated with and support our industry, I have found a group of dedicated and caring professionals.
I am focused on our mission of promoting professionalism, providing unbiased education, and disseminating evidence-based research findings. Creating opportunities for collaboration rooted in our commitment to quality patient care is from where it all stems.
We are busy planning your Academy’s 50th Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium that will be held March 6-9 next year in Chicago, and I look forward to seeing you all there! The Academy’s Clinical Content Committee is working hard to ensure the meeting has the signature superior educational content and quality networking opportunities for which it is known.
The staff and I are working together to further enhance the value of Academy membership with an eye to the future needs of the O&P professional. I have big, bold ideas—but since I am only 5 weeks in, I plan to continue to listen and learn about our profession and community. What do you need to become the best O&P professional you can be, and how can your Academy help you get there? Please email me your thoughts, and don’t be surprised if I ask you that question when we meet because one day we will. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for being a member of the Academy. We value you!
