Board of Directors Candidate Questionnaire
Thank you for your interest in serving on the Academy Board of Directors. This questionnaire is designed to collect additional information from you to aid the Nominating Committee in their assessment of potential Board candidates and must be completed by December 4, 2024
Objective
Each year, the Academy seeks nominations for available Board of Director positions. Nominees must be Professional members who demonstrate broad experience, professional excellence, and active engagement in Academy initiatives.
The Academy’s Nominating Committee oversees the nominations process. The committee includes the Immediate Past President, the President-Elect, and a Chapter President elected by the Academy.
The committee is committed to assembling a well-balanced Board, representing a diversity of experience as outlined below. Diversification of career pathways: patient care, educator, researcher
- Diversification of employer affiliations: small practice, large practice, hospital setting, manufacturer-based patient care clinics, university setting
- Diversification of thought: work styles, personality types, skill sets
- Diversification of demographic groups: age, gender, national origin, race, ethnicity, disability, and veteran status
Members-at-Large of the Academy Board of Directors
Within the limits of the Bylaws of the Academy, each board member is responsible and has commensurate authority to accomplish the following duties:
- Attend all meetings of the board of directors.
- Familiarize oneself with the policies, procedures, and Bylaws of the association.
- Support and defend the policies and programs adopted by the board of directors and executive committee.
- Keep confidential all board discussions to ensure the integrity and cohesiveness of the board as a team.
- Review all policies and programs designed to further the goals and objectives of the Academy.
- Serve as a liaison to committees as appointed by the president and presents issues of importance from these committees to the board.
- Chair Academy councils as designated by Academy president and reports to president and executive committee.
- Promote interest and active participation in the Academy.
- Identify, cultivate, and recruit future leaders for the Academy.
- Perform such other duties and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned by the president.
Director Expectations:
- A three-year commitment to serving on the Board of Directors.
- Regular engagement and communication via e-mail.
- Active participation in all board meetings.
- Willingness to take responsibility for board duties, working collaboratively with mutual respect and support to make decisions that serve the best interests of the Academy.
- Strong decision-making skills in a group setting.
- Commitment to supporting and upholding group decisions, even if they differ from personal views.
