Celebrating One Year of the Bone-Anchored Prosthetics Society

News,

This month, the Academy proudly celebrates the one-year anniversary of the Bone-Anchored Prosthetics Society. In just one year, this pioneering society has become a thriving community dedicated to advancing the clinical care of individuals with bone-anchored prostheses through research, education, and collaboration. With nearly 50 members, the society has made remarkable strides since its inception.

Highlights from the First Year

  • Membership Growth: Starting with 20 founding members, the society has more than doubled its size, welcoming an additional 30 members.
  • Engagement and Collaboration: Monthly meetings and face-to-face interactions at the Academy Annual Meeting fostered a strong sense of community and shared purpose.
  • Innovation in Education: The society hosted the Academy’s first-ever Unconference, encouraging open dialogue and the exchange of ideas.
  • Documenting Progress: A Journal of Proceedings was published to capture insights and outcomes from the Unconference, followed by a webinar to share these findings more broadly.
  • Thought Leadership: The Bone-Anchored Prosthetics Society showcased its work through articles in the O&P EDGE and by sharing insights on the Academy’s Clinical Care Insiders Podcast.

The Bone-Anchored Prosthetics Society is one of ten Academy Scientific Societies, each committed to advancing a specific area within orthotics and prosthetics. Together, these societies embody the Academy’s mission to promote excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning across the profession.

As we celebrate this milestone, we extend our gratitude to the dedicated members and leaders of the Bone-Anchored Prosthetics Society for their outstanding contributions. Their efforts not only advance patient care but also inspire innovation and collaboration across the orthotics and prosthetics community.
